Green Energy Ohio
Who We Are:
Green Energy Ohio (GEO) is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to promoting environmentally and economically sustainable energy policies and practices in Ohio. In its 10th year, GEO conducts educational public outreach on all forms of renewable energy. GEO’s clean energy expertise and experience also provides practical policy advice to private and public decision-makers. Serving as the Ohio chapter of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES), national attention to local efforts and access to resource is provided to GEO members. Unique among non-profit advocacy groups in linking both economic and environmental perspectives, GEO relies on strong internal technical groups of architects, scientists, engineers, and energy-system integrators within the business, education and government sectors. Backed by solid community based support, GEO mobilizes resources across Ohio with dozens of diverse partners joining together in groundbreaking renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
Activities: GEO publishes the quarterly Green Energy Ohio News Magazine, containing up-to-date regional news, case studies and a Green Directory. Our website acts as a clearinghouse of information and receives over 8 million hits per year. GEO coordinates monthly clean energy network meetings across Ohio, as well as more in depth regional workshops and solar training programs. GEO oversees Ohio’s only residential solar hot water incentive program, and provides wind monitoring assessments through the Ohio Anemometer Loan Program.

Our Goal for Ohio:
GEO’s vision is to mainstream green energy in Ohio. To meet that vision, GEO needs to shift its focus from building awareness of the value of green energy to building capacity for adoption. GEO’s programs, projects and advocacy efforts need to focus on those activities that meet their customers / stakeholders where they are and that will most effectively support those customers / stakeholder in advancing their own implementation efforts.
