Midwest Solar Training Network Wiki

The Midwest Solar Training Network wiki is an open-use knowledge management system that is designed to encourage collaboration and discussion. It hosts information that is dynamic, meaning it is frequently updated, revised, and even peer-reviewed. The MSTN wiki exists to develop course materials, teaching modules, and our solar network training resources.

Working in conjunction with the wiki is our resource library, called Gallery. While Gallery serves as our resource library, hosting all images, Powerpoints, and course resources, the wiki serves as our book: we create the book together on the wiki using the courses and teaching modules sections.

You can access the wiki here.

Below are the policies and practices for the wiki, which all wiki users are required to adhere to at all times.

Terms of Service

Use of the wiki constitutes your acceptance of these terms and conditions which take effect on the date from which you first use the site.

Content and Language Policy

Any wiki user who registers for an account agrees to limit their language to appropriate, inoffensive, and topical parameters and may not create content or revisions that are libelous, unlawful, or grossly inaccurate.

Wiki users may not knowingly tamper with content and must follow the guidelines and standards found under the Materials and Development Standards on the wiki.

Copyright Policy

Users may not knowingly post copyrighted material without authorization. Users also may not claim any of the materials developed by them on the wiki as copyrighted or proprietary information, any materials hosted on the wiki and in which users contribute to in any way are explicitly open use.

The Midwest Renewable Energy Association reserves the right to restrict the access of individuals who abuse these policies, and in some cases, may block the user from access to the wiki entirely.

If these terms and conditions are not accepted in full, the use of this site must be terminated immediately.

The MSTN does not own copyright on MSTN Wiki article texts and illustrations. It is therefore pointless to e-mail us asking for permission to reproduce articles or images, even if rules at your company or school or organization mandate that you ask website operators before copying their content.

The only MSTN wiki content you should contact the MSTN about is the trademarked MREA, MSTN, U.S. DOE, and state partner logos, which are not freely usable without permission.

Permission to reproduce and modify text on MSTN Wiki has already been granted to any registered user by the authors of individual articles as long as such reproduction and modification complies with licensing terms as listed on the Wikipedia website below. Images may or may not permit reuse and modification; the conditions for reproduction of each image should be individually checked. The only exceptions are those cases in which editors have violated MSTN wiki policy by uploading copyrighted material without authorization, or with copyright licensing terms which are incompatible with those MSTN Wiki authors have applied to the rest of MREA Wiki content. While such material is present on the MSTN Wiki (before it is detected and removed), it will be a copyright violation to copy it. For permission to use it, one must contact the owner of the copyright of the text or illustration in question; often, but not always, this will be the original author.

If you have specific questions pertaining to contributor and re-user rights and obligations, please read the following sections on Wikipedia: copyright issues.

Language Policy

Wiki users agree to limit their language to appropriate, inoffensive, and topical parameters as required by the Terms of Service.

A first-time offender will be contacted by a wiki administrator with a reminder of the language policy and an outline of what they could have done differently. A second-time offender will be refused access to the wiki for one week. A third-time offender's IP will be blocked and will be refused access to the wiki indefinitely.

Privacy Policy

The Midwest Solar Training Network does not collect or save personally identifiable user data and will not ever log or keep a record of your password. The MSTN reserves the right to block IPs of users who abuse the terms of service and language policy.

General Disclaimer

The Midwest Solar Training Network is not responsible for any libelous, offensive, crude, inaccurate, or unlawful information posted on the wiki. Each individual wiki user is responsible for the content that they create, edit, or revise.

We make no guarantee of validity or accuracy in the content hosted on the wiki.
